Industry is one of the most important sources of national income, and the backbone of the country’s economy. Industry in Kuwait is closely and effectively linked to various economic activities, especially the oil industry and its petroleum derivatives.
And since industry affairs were regulated by law no. (6) of 1965, which has been applied for more than thirty years, during which many changes have occurred that imposed the need to replace it with another law to abreast of developments at local and global levels. Taking into consideration all various systems and departments that supervise the affairs of industry, in an independent institution whereby the direction, control and supervision of the industry would be more effective, comprehensive and efficient. Therefore, law no 56 of 1996 was issued, which states establishment of a public authority with an independent prestigious entity called the Public Authority for Industry and supervised by the Minister of Commerce and Industry. The authority started its work on January 15, 1997
